Over a third of Year 11s at The Cheadle Academy sign up for NCS

39 Year 11 students from The Cheadle Academy, which is over a third of the entire year group, have signed up for completion of the National Citizen Service over the summer. This has made The Cheadle Academy a Champion School for the NCS and cements the support The Academy and the students have shown for the NCS since its inception. In fact, previous students and staff have gone on to become leaders of NCS programmes themselves.

National Citizen Service (NCS) is a 2-4 week programme which takes place outside of term time in the spring, summer and autumn holidays. NCS is proven to have a massive impact on young people’s lives.

Phase one sees students living in an outdoor activity centre, Phase two, reunited with the group, and in a uni-style environment, students will explore ways to develop life skills like confidence, leadership and communication, and Phase 3, after the fun and inspiration from the first two phases, means students are ready to step up and deliver a social action project. Plan; fundraise; make a difference!

All the students taking part will not only reap personal benefits but will take pride in the knowledge that they are contributing enormously to their local community.  Emily Harris, 15, from Cheadle said, ‘I cannot wait, this is going to be so exciting and a brilliant way to do something that will be really positive for our local community’.  Nathan Seabridge, also 15 and from Cheadle agreed, ‘I think we will enjoy experiences that will benefit us as we journey through the Sixth Form College and to University; this is going to be really invaluable’.
